This was a restructuring work of a house of the 1940´s in Narvarte Poniente Mexico City, headquarters of the Ayu Foundation a microfinance institution focused in promoting entrepreneurship in rural areas . The construction suffered structural damage in the last earthquake of September 2022 . The work consisted of reinforcing the load-bearing walls of the house inserting 1/2" round rods diagonally every 4" forming a St. Andrew´s cross and covered with electro-welded mesh to later be formwork and cast using the same wood poles that had been used as shoring . False arches were also replaced by steel I 10" beams to correctly stiffen the structural efforts of the house . Additionally, in one of the facades of the house 6" angle diagonals were incorporated to absorb the stresses that could deform or crack the walls . All this respecting the original aesthetics of the house, but showing the works with utmost honesty .
